R-01 Show the main answer and intent confirmation early

P1Strong practicePartly automated

The H1 and the first screen must let users quickly confirm they are in the right place and understand the core answer or value. Necessary caveats must be kept for the sake of accuracy.

Why it matters

Users who land on a page and cannot see quickly that it answers their question leave. Search engines and AI answer engines also need the main answer near the top to pick it out cleanly. Keeping caveats in place means speed does not come at the cost of accuracy.

How to implement

  1. Move the H1 close to the start of the meaningful content and remove duplicate heroes and headlines.
  2. Add an answer block of 2 to 5 sentences directly under the H1 that says who the page is for and what it answers.
  3. Keep the necessary caveats in the answer rather than oversimplifying.
  4. Reduce the number of breadcrumbs, badges, slogans and competing CTAs on the first screen.
  5. Place detail, methodology, tables and examples after the answer block, and test the mobile first screen.

Checklist

  • Keep the H1 close to the start of the meaningful content.
  • Explain in the first sentences who the page is for and what it is for.
  • Remove duplicate heroes and duplicate headlines.
  • Limit the number of breadcrumbs, eyebrows, badges and slogans according to user value.
  • If there are several CTAs, reduce the priority conflict.
  • Test the mobile first screen separately.
  • Use an answer block of 2 to 5 sentences directly under the H1.
  • Do not oversimplify the answer to the point of ignoring caveats.
  • Open up detail, methodology, tables and examples after the answer block.
  • Do not use a '700 word intro for SEO'.

How to audit

  • Read the first 150 to 250 words on their own.
  • Check whether the user's main question is answered.

How UltimateSEO checks this automatically

Partly automated. The crawler checks that an H1 exists and that the first text block before the first H2 is substantial; whether it actually answers the intent is judged by a person. The crawl gives a signal; a person decides the final state with business evidence.

States used: PASS, FAIL, UNKNOWN, NOT_APPLICABLE or BLOCKED. UNKNOWN is never shown as a pass. How states work.
