M-12 Track multimodal Search performance as its own segment
Image, Lens and other multimodal Search visibility must be tracked as a separate segment in the appropriate Search Console reports.

Why it matters
Visibility from images and Lens behaves differently from standard organic results, and blending the two hides what is happening in each. For sites that rely on visuals, such as product, travel, local, food, property and visual how-to sites, this can be a large part of how people find them. Without a separate segment, changes in visual search go unnoticed.
How to implement
- Apply the multimodal search type filter in the relevant Search Console reports.
- Group landing pages and visual-heavy templates into their own cohort.
- Track which countries, devices and asset types produce visibility.
- Keep visual visibility out of your normal organic and AI impressions reporting.
- Add the multimodal export and page cohort trend to a regular dashboard.
Checklist
- Use the multimodal search type filter.
- Treat landing pages and visual-heavy templates as a separate cohort.
- Track the countries, devices and asset types where visibility occurs.
- Do not mix visual visibility with normal organic and AI impressions.
- Treat it as P1 for product, travel, local, food, property and visual how-to sites.
How to audit
- Whether the multimodal filter export and page cohort trend feed into a regular dashboard.
