Intent and page strategy · Branch I.B, Research and intent validation
I-12 The strategy problem must be solved before the writing problem
If the intent, page type, evidence or offer is wrong, shortening the text, rewriting it or changing its style must not count as a fix.

Why it matters
Polishing the wording of a page that targets the wrong intent, uses the wrong page type, lacks evidence or has a weak offer leaves the real fault in place. Readers still do not get what they need, and search engines and AI answer engines still have no reason to prefer the page. Treating a strategy fault as a style fault wastes effort and hides the cause.
How to implement
- Before accepting a rewrite or shortening request, check the page intent against the evidence.
- Confirm the page type fits that intent.
- Check that the page has the evidence and a clear offer.
- Fix any strategy fault first, then edit the text.
- Reject style changes presented as the fix for a strategy fault.
How to audit
- Check whether a more basic content strategy problem sits beneath a proposed style fix.
How UltimateSEO checks this automatically
This control needs human evidence: proof that strategy questions (audience, intent, canonical URL, evidence) were settled before copy was written.
States used: PASS, FAIL, UNKNOWN, NOT_APPLICABLE or BLOCKED. UNKNOWN is never shown as a pass. How states work.
