Why it matters

Reusing an old domain's reputation or assembling pages from other people's content gives users nothing original and trades on trust the new site has not earned. Google's spam policies treat these tactics as manipulation. Search and AI systems have little reason to rely on a site built this way.

How to implement

  1. Review the history of any acquired domain, including its past topics and backlinks.
  2. Make sure the new site's purpose genuinely fits that history, or do not rely on the old authority.
  3. Remove scraped, synonymised or stitched third-party content.
  4. Replace it with original content that serves your own audience.

How to audit

  • Compare the historical topic and backlinks of the domain with the purpose of the new site.

How UltimateSEO checks this automatically

This control needs human evidence: domain history, content provenance and whether any section is scraped or stitched from other sites.

States used: PASS, FAIL, UNKNOWN, NOT_APPLICABLE or BLOCKED. UNKNOWN is never shown as a pass. How states work.
